Chicago, Illinois
June 2004
Class trips rule.
Matt's class took their annual class trip to Chicago at the beginning of June.
Because I remain unfettered
by the bonds of employment, I was enlisted as a chaperone--a task I was quite happy
to perform.
The teachers put together a full schedule, including
Shedd's Aquarium, the
Field Museum, the
Museum of Science and Industry, the
Lincoln Park Zoo, and
Navy Pier.
The museums were both large and good, and naturally educational.
We especially liked the Museum of Science
and Industry, because of its size and diversity, but I can recommend any one of
them. The Lincoln Park Zoo is fairly small, but it's free of charge, so it's hard
to complain. Navy Pier, where Matt and I rode the 150-foot ferris wheel, was a
lot of fun, too.
I'm not ashamed to say the highlight of our trip was dinner at
Medieval Times.
It was just a bit cheesy, but all in good fun. It's not often you get a chance to
see love sword-fighting and jousting, so Matt and I (and all his classmates) enjoyed
every moment as we ate our food without the assistance of utensils.
