Disneyworld
February 2004
We love Michigan, but around mid-February we begin to grow weary of ice and
snow. Fortunately, Matthew's winter break occurs at this time, and we've made a habit
of heading somewhere sunny. This year, we returned to Disney with Jeanne's parents,
Howard and Sue. The weather was a bit cool by Florida standards, mostly upper 60's and lower 70's, but
it was a welcome respite nonetheless. We spent four days touring Disney's parks and one
at Sea World.
All the Disney parks were great, as usual. MGM was easily the most eventful park for us for several reason.
First, Matthew found his favorite roller coaster, the Rockin' Roller Coaster (with Aerosmith),
which he rode
five times. Second, I had a brush with celebrity and fellow Bruce, Bruce Springsteen (see
photos below). Third, Jeanne was selected to be onstage as an extra for the Indiana Jones
Experience (all my photos of this are blurry...sorry). It was a hoot.
We enjoyed Sea World quite a bit, too. We weren't sure quite what to expect, but the shows
were funny and everything was well done. In fact, I thought it was right up with Disney with
regard to presentation (which is saying a lot). We also discovered a great coaster. Sea World
only has one, the Kraken, but it is definitely world class.
