Disneyworld
May 2005
Each year, Jeanne has a conference that occurs around the third week of May.
They ship about 100 of her fellow employees to some interesting locale and talk
about insurance (sounds like a party, right?). Unfortunately, this means Jeanne
has been out of town for our anniversary (5/20) the last six years or so.
This year, the conference was held at DisneyWorld, one of our very favorite places.
Taking this as the opportunity it was, Matt and I decided to drop everything (work,
school, etc.) for the week and join her.
As is our custom, Matt and I drove down to the Sunshine State(tm), with the
added twist of camping on the way down. Our first night was washed out by rain, but
we camped for two nights at Tomoka State Park in Florida waiting for my lovely and
talented wife to arrive. The park was very nice and he and I had a swell time
fishing, hanging out in our tent, and chasing lizards (actually, that's what Matt did).
Once Jeanne arrived, we headed to the splendid Beach Club Resort at Disney, which
was even better than expected. We spent the next four days enjoying all four theme
parks and both water parks. We especially enjoyed our time there because the crowds
in mid-May are extremely light, so much so that we feel spoiled and unsure if we
can return for the normal Winter Break crowds. As usual, Epcot was the favorite
for Matt and I, and Jeanne preferred the Animal Kingdom.
Of course, the best part of the trip was the fact that Jeanne and I got to celebrate
fifteen wonderful years of marriage together.
