Washington (Oympic National Park & Seattle)
August 2007
Having driven to Arizona and back last year, Matthew and I decided to push even further West this summer. Actually, the particulars
were a little more complicated. Nonetheless, Matt and I found ourselves on the westward road again this year, headed to Washington state. Once there,
we picked up Jeanne and her father, Howard, and spent a beautiful week bouncing around Olympic National Park, Puget Sound, and the Straits of Juan De Fuca.
It was grand.
None of us had ever been to the Pacific Northwest, but it was even better than we thought it would be. Beautiful mountains, the Pacific Ocean, Seattle, rain forests,
whales, seals, eagles, the tallest trees I've ever seen, and lots of other cool things. Honestly, it was some of the most stunning scenery I've ever seen.
As an added bonus, Matthew and I really took our time getting there and back, and had our own adventures. We saw the Badlands in North and South Dakota, Mount Rushmore,
Devil's Tower, and the Rockies. We camped across the country again, and fished most nights. Good times.
